Yesterday I listened to a chapter in Thomas J. Stanley’s The Millionaire Mind, where Stanley surveyed hundreds of individuals with a net worth exceeding $1 million about their habits, skills, and what they attributed to their financial success. The lack of correlation between strong academic performance and income interested me most, though it did not surprise me. Stanley draws on the work of Robert Sternberg, a psychology professor at Yale. He’s written a few books, including Successful Intelligence: How Practical and Creative Intelligence Determine Success in Life and one with a fantastic title, Why Smart People Can Be So Stupid.
