Welcoming winter
October 29th, 2006 | by Brian |The last softball game of the season was postponed one week because of snow, and the weather last Wednesday was fabulous for the final game of the season. Once again I enjoyed pitching, regardless of the score, and took a few moments to take in the beauty of the black silhouette of Rocky Mountains under the moon in a midnight blue sky. That evening a felt a bit sad, and the following quote by Bart Giamatti came to mind:
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone.
